National Identity

According Oxford English dictionary citizen is a legally recognized subject or national of a state, either native or naturalized while identity is the state of having unique identifying characteristics held by no other person or thing.

I have British citizenship but even after 500 years my descendants like African America or West Ends will heritage and identity less but they will never be English, Welsh, Scottish or Irish because identity/heritage comes from your father and grandfathers but you can get citizenship from any country you emigrated after few years. There is አግኣዚናዊ/ትግራዋይ, Oromo, Amhara, Saho, Kunama Afar, Gambela are identities but there is no so-called Eritrean or Ethiopian identity. Eritrea and Ethiopia are nation-states of many nations like UK is nation-state of four nations England, Welsh, North Ireland and Scotland.

The main unique identifying characteristics of አግኣዚናዊ/ትግራዋይ/ ትግርኛ identity are four that are

A, Ge’ez/Tigrigna language and Ge’ez alphabets,

B, The feeling we have for our land አግኣዚያን/ትግራይ (today’s Eritrea and Tigray),

C, Our history and

D, Our ታቦት or ኦሪታዊ religion.

No nation or ethnic has these characteristics and authentic feeling about these four unique identifying characteristics except አግኣዚናዊ/ትግራዋይ/ ትግርኛ.
